Smartphone manufactures in an effort to balance the needs and wants of the consumer against the physical limitations of the smartphone have attempted many innovations.
This section explores some of the major attempts (successful and not) and some of the speculative developments for future models.

Educational Implications
Smartphone cameras offer a range of possibilities and opportunities for student learning but they can benefit from our guidance as educators.

While optical versatility may be a limited concern for most students, image quality is a related concern that impacts the larger student population.

Hello. My name is Chis Howey and I am a student in the Master of Educational Technology (MET) program at the University of British Columbia (UBC). This website was completed as a project within the ETEC 523 course and brings together my work as an educator and as a professional photographer.

I currently work in the International School system as a middle school English Language literature teacher as well as an Individuals & societies teacher. In a previous role (and school) I also worked as a Media teacher and a lot of the content and probing questions came from that role.
​
As a professional photographer, I have been published in many international publications such as Lonely Planet. I have also worked as a wedding photographer and at one point was also a photographer for a community newspaper in Vancouver, Canada. At present my professional activities are mainly limited to the world of education, but I draw on my photography experience constantly across multiple subjects.
